Programs for Children
Family Services offers the following programs for children:

The Foster Grandparent Program provides volunteer opportunities for limited-income seniors over the age of 55 to help children with special needs. Foster Grandparents work in day care centers, elementary schools, Head Start programs, alternative schools, and at other community agencies providing one-on-one academic and emotional support to children who have been abused, have physical or developmental disabilities, or are in need of additional assistance.

Life Skills Training is a national model (Blueprint Program) drug use primary prevention program that provides general life and social resistance skills for late elementary and middle school students.

The Norristown Truancy Abatement Initiative is a five-pronged approach to reducing the rate of unexcused absences in the Norristown Area School District and increasing the graduation rate of at-risk youth.

The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program includes school-wide and classroom-level activities, individual interventions with bullies and victims and community involvement. This violence prevention program combines the efforts of all school staff as well as students, parents and members of the community to reduce bullying behavior.
