Meals on Wheels

Short Description: 

Family Services' Meals on Wheels program provides food and friendship to frail, homebound elderly and disabled individuals living throughout Western Montgomery County. Each weekday, our volunteers deliver a hot lunch and cold supper to individuals in Pottstown, Royersford and the Lower Perkiomen Valley.

Since 1971, Family Services' Meals on Wheels program has provided food andMeals on Wheels logo friendship to frail, homebound elderly and disabled individuals living throughout Western Montgomery County. Each weekday, our volunteers deliver a hot lunch and cold supper to an average of 160 individuals in Pottstown, Royersford and the Lower Perkiomen Valley, making Family Services’ Meals on Wheels program the largest in Montgomery County.

The Senior Companion Program is the pairing of limited-income seniors with frail elderly individuals who may have difficulty completing everyday tasks. Senior Companions offer one-on-one support by helping with mail, writing letters, playing cards and other games, offering respite care, talking and listening, all at no cost to the client.

Foster Grandparent Program

Short Description: 

The Foster Grandparent Program provides volunteer opportunities for limited-income seniors over the age of 55 to help children with special needs.  Foster Grandparents work in day care centers, elementary schools, Head Start programs, alternative schools, and at other community agencies providing one-on-one academic and emotional support to children who have been abused, have physical or developmental disabilities, or are in need of additional assistance.
